Since when did the Göing Bakery exist, what makes the bakery stand out?

The Göing Bakery has been around since 1920, i.e. for over 100 years. We are a modern family company from Hanover with 30 branches and are always looking for new ideas and concepts. For example, we opened the first vegan bakery branch in Hanover. Sustainability plays a very important role for us.

What challenges did the company originally face?

Daily orders in stores were always a big challenge for us. Due to fluctuation and absences due to illness, there were recurring fluctuations in order quantities and the goods were often sold out too early. Each employee had a different feel for the orders, which is why we often had to retrieve them ourselves and take a last look at them. This order check took a lot of time. In addition, we operate various branch types, such as supply and catering locations with our own product offerings and customer requirements.

What was your goal when you came to foodforecast?

We compared software solutions from several providers with the aim of tackling the challenges mentioned above. After the initial discussions with foodforecast, we were immediately convinced. We felt that you knew exactly what you were doing, and today we can say that it was worth it!

What has changed in the company since the introduction of foodforecast?

Since the introduction of foodforecast, our orders have become more precise. With the use of AI, we can take into account much more data and factors than was previously the case and always receive accurate sales forecasts. As a result, we have better product availability and were able to increase our turnover by 5%. At the same time, we have around 30% fewer evening returns. Working with FoodForecast is great fun and it's great to see that we can rely on AI. Now we have more time for other tasks again and are even adapting our operating processes to the AI software.

What is the biggest added value of the software for you?

We are fascinated by AI and how quickly everything worked. Automating the ordering process really makes work easier for all work levels and we save valuable working time. The collaboration with the FoodForecast team works great and someone is always available. We also loved the 4-week test phase at the start, which enabled us to see the AI results directly in our branches. This made it easier for us to assess whether the software was doing anything or not.

Would you recommend foodforecast to other customers and if so, why?

Yes, I would definitely recommend foodforecast because the results speak for themselves. Since using the solution, we have had fewer returns, significantly improved product availability and were therefore able to increase our turnover by 5%. By automating processes, we also save time and are more efficient. Foodforecast's flexibility is also great, as we can include outlier days and our own ordering units, for example. You can tell that the software was developed specifically for bakeries.

Has the Göing Bakery Become More Sustainable as a Result of FoodForecast?

The Göing Bakery has always been very sustainable, because we donate excess baked goods, for example, so that hardly anything is thrown away. However, FoodForecast has made us even more sustainable, as we were able to reduce returns by an average of 30%. In particular, this saves us valuable raw materials and resources that are required for the production of baked goods. By baking according to requirements, we have also become more sustainable and efficient in our work processes.

How did the key figures improve?

Compared to the previous year, our returns have fallen by 30% and we have a greater availability of our high-purchasing a-items. As a result, we achieve higher sales, which immediately increased by 5% in the first month after using AI. At the same time, the B and C articles have been shut down so that there are no longer too many of them.

What is the feedback from employees on the introduction of the software?

At first, our staff had some concerns about the use of artificial intelligence. However, everyone is now convinced and stands behind AI, because employees also see the added value that the solution brings. They are particularly pleased with the working time they have gained.
